DESCRIPTION:10th Annual Golden West College Peace Conference 2016\n\n \n\nThe conference will be held on April 22\, 2016 (Earth Day)\, at Golden West College Student Center in Huntington Beach from 8:30AM to 5:00 PM. The conference will be a gift (no cost) to Coast Community College District students. All others are $25.00 (includes an all vegan breakfast\, vegan lunch\, conference material and engaging gifts).\n\n \n\nTheme is year is: Regenerative Peace: Sustaining Our Work\, Communities\, Environment and Selves in Service\n\n \n\nSpecial Guest Speakers: Gene Baur\, A pioneer in the field of overcoming investigations.  The man TIME magazine calls "the conscience of the food movement."\n\nJohn Bloom\, Vice President of Organizational Culture at RSF Social Finance.\n\nWin a signed copy of No Meat Athlete by Matt Frazier? Part of some of our great opportunity drawings.\n\n \n\nEven though technology allows us to be closer than ever before\, why do we have a chronic sense of disconnect?\n\nCan there be a balance between the economy\, the environment and human rights?\n\nWhat is slavery in modern times?\n\n(e.g. human trafficking\, forced labor\, sexual exploitation)\n\nHow will climate change affect our lives?\n\nWhat does human progress look like in the 21st century?\n\nHow can we rebuild a culture of trust\, empathy and compassion?\n\n \n\nThe 2016 Peace Conference is a shared inquiry into a way of life that embodies underlying human values of compassion\, care\, generosity\, and trust. Amid global challenges of the 21st century\, the conference advocates that everyday people can redefine the narrative and recognize their vital role in shaping our world  simply by "being the change they wish to see" to create communities that are just\, compassionate\, and sustainable.\n\n \n\nWho is attending?\n\nOrganized by a crew of volunteers who believe that being the change\, changes the being\, the conference holds space for researchers\, educators\, artists\, advocates\, students\, and seekers to explore\, redefine and lead with these deeper values in practical ways.\n\n \n\nOur Vision\n\nDrawn together by a shared resonance at the intersection of impact\, awareness\, and transformation\, this collective gathering may fuel\, ignite\, and inspire ways for participants to be deeper stewards of technology\, economics\, education\, art\, and social media in a way that can recreate communities to thrive on the power and shared values of knowledge and service.\n\n \n\nThis is a zero waste event!\n\n \n\nFor more information see Facebook Page   Peace Studies Program: Golden West College\n\n \n\n \n\nValerie A.
